Salutations gals
-
I know last Saturday
nite kind of went by the way
side with the Kevin Costner
thing downtown - and that we
cancelled the reservations. We
all know the parking situation
- but as I told Janet and Glenn
- I bet Kevin had a place to
park!!! (sigh)
But such is life
- we go on. I've had
a busy summer writing - and
only 3 weeks left before I
hit the teaching trail again. Figured
I'd play "catch-up" tonight
and fill you all in on the
latest adventures!
Our July 5th
lunch - by the sea at the Shoals
was worth drooling over - for
those who missed it. We
sat - and had our drinks constantly
refilled - for TWO hours -
until we chose to leave.(and
we probably could've stayed
longer!) The waves splashed
on the rocks - and we had fun
watching the seagulls attempt
to slide off the umbrellas
when they lost their footing
(hee hee!).
Anyway - as
I said, life goes on!!!! Will
quit relishing the past and
go on to newer and better things!
Saturday,
August 2nd
Am changing this
- as Janet has informed me
that downtown will be a zoo
this Saturday with the fair
starting and a parade and the
whole nine yards. Hence
- let's enjoy a nice lunch
by the sea (once again) and
will line it up at Brophy
Bros. at the harbor in
Ventura - where the old Hornblowers
used to be. NEED to know
who's coming by THURSDAY. Will
schedule the time for 11:30
as usual. Have heard
from several that this is a
very good - so let's give them
a try.
Sunday,
August 3rd:
Jazz time again
- haven't heard of any changes,
so if you want to join
us and listen to great Dixieland
the first Sunday of the month
- here it is! Take
101 North and get off at the
Lake Casitas/150 exit and
go right. Go EXACTLY
3 miles (you'll see a sign)
and turn right up the hill
into Piper Winery. It's
an adventure to get to the
top - but well worth the adventure! (Yes,
Carlotta, you can make it or call
me!) Bring a salad
or dish to share and your own
meat - as they have grills
going. The bar is open
- and you can give a donation. It
is absolutely the BEST way
to spend the first Sunday of
the month!!! (and
it's after church too! being
from 1 to 5!) The view
is awesome and the music is
jumpin!)
Saturday,
August 16th:
It's an annual
event gals!!! It's our auction. Save
up all that quality white elephant
stuff you don't know what to
do with - and we'll auction
it off to each other! Great
shopping!!!! Bring a
salad or appetizer to share. This
is our only fund raiser - but
it's always been fun (this
is year 4!!). Time to
start: 11:30. It
will be at Linda's at 473 Lincoln
Drive in Ventura. (Will send
directions later - but need
to know who's coming!)
Saturday,
September 6th:
Lunch date! Watch
for location - as am checking
out new things!
Sunday,
September 21nd:
Pool party at
June's place. Let me
know who's coming so I can
give her a number. We
always bring salads - and she
does the meat!
Saturday,
October 4th:
Put this lunch
on your calendar at 11:30! It's
the weekend of the Avocado
Festival in Carpinteria - and
we'll do lunch at Zooker's!!!! We
can do the festival afterwards!
Saturday,
October 11th:
Janet's "Red-u-ation!" She's
reached the "magic number!" Watch
for details - but put it on
your calendar.
Saturday,
November 1st:
Shopping day
in Santa Barbara - we will
have lunch at "Stateside" -
where the old Alculpulco's
was. Food is awesome
- shopping to follow. Time
11:30. Will arrange a
car pool.
Saturday,
December 6th:
Our Christmas
party at Capistrano's in the
Mandalay Bay resort. Time:

Last minutes:
Will plan a "happy
hour" in September. Anything
you'd like to share - events,
ideas, etc - let me know. Just
e-mail or call: 647-0892.
AND - they have
a great gospel brunch at the "House
of Blues" in Hollywood. (last
check - it was $40 per person
- and seniors got a 20% discount!) Great
to do on a Sunday morning. If
you are game - pick a Sunday in
November - and keep me posted. Friends,
spouses and significant others
more than welcome!
Will keep you
all posted.
